The place for this event is the

Union County Fair Grounds

3604 2nd Street, La Grande Oregon.

This years event will take place on

August 17th and 18th 2007.

Friday night from 6:pm to 11:pm will be Teen Night. This will be an evening event to provide a place for our youth to worship.

The goal being Christian Youth to play their style of worship music for the Lord and show what other types of artistic worship they have to the other youth of the area. A chance for them to witness to their own peers in their own language and the prayer tent will operate that night with volunteers from the local Pastors, an bible study groups to give support in prayer.

Painting, drawing, sculpting, pottery, quilting are some of the other art & craft expressions that we will provide a place for this indoors.

The local church organizations and youth groups will provide food booths to supply the needs of the crowd. They will be allowed to charge for their services so that the profits they make will go to their own needs.

It all started with one dream!

The Son Light Festival began in a dream where Armen Woosley was shown a large crowd of believers playing music, dancing, singing, praising and worshiping with their arms raised towards Heaven.  It was a warm sunny day full of festivities, peace and agape love.  The believers fellowshipped and enjoyed the awesome spirit of the Lord Jesus blessings upon them.  It took a couple of years of this repeating dream to truly believe the Lord meant for him to be the one to bring this festival about.  Armen felt he was not gifted or had any talents to make something like this happen he kept saying "not me Lord" but the Lord persisted to give him the dream until he gave in and said "OK Lord here am I to do your will".  From then on Armen began to talk to others in the area and look for a place to make it happen. Other believers started volunteering to help and a name was chosen. When on a visit to the Union County Fairgrounds the dream returned to affirm this is the right place.

The volunteer staff of the Son Light Fest was then formed from people of different churches of the area.  They agreed this is where the Lord wanted Christians to praise Him with music and other art forms.  It is their hope of uniting the local churches of Union County as well as the eastern counties of Oregon and Washington and western Idaho.  This festival is more than a music fest it also has a prayer tent for ministry, fine art show, Christian arts & craft and food vending for a full family atmosphere of entertainment.

We chose our name from the New Testament verse in

First Thessalonians 5: 5.

You are all the sons of light and the sons of the day. We are not of the night, or of darkness.

We believe that we need to be a useful reflector of the Son Light so others around us may have light for their path to Jesus. We intend to use the Union County Fair Grounds every 3 rd weekend of August where free camping is available.

The first festival began there in the year 2002 and we look forward in bringing it about each year as long as it pleases our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  For it is His will that we seek each year before we bring you this event.  This is a community outreach of Damascus Road Ministries at 905 C. Ave La Grande, OR.  It is a nonprofit 501 C-3 event and all proceeds left over after expenses are kept in savings to help with the startup cost of the next year’s festival.  In the event that God lays it upon our hearts to stop the Festival the funds will be turned over to local ministries voted on by the Son Light Fest staff.

Mission Statement

• To bring together Christians of all ages to worship Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior with music and other art forms.
• The fellowship of the brothers and sisters in Christ uniting in one place for joyful worship in a fair like atmosphere.
• The ultimate goal of this event is to spread the word of God to brothers and sisters that do not know who Jesus is.
• God has given us many talents and He is calling us to use them for the glory of God and promote His coming Kingdom.

Statement of Faith

We Believe:

1. The Holy Bible is the only infallible and authoritative written Word of God. (2Tim.3:16; 2Pet.1:21)

2. T here is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit; Distinguishable but indivisible. (Gen.1:2; Exo.35:31; Lev.11:45; Job27:3; Psa.51:11; Mat.28:19; Joh.1:1;14; 4:24; 1 Pet.1:2)

3. T hat our Lord Jesus Christ; was born of a virgin birth and lived a sinless life; bore the sins of the whole world at his death on the cross. (Luk.1:26-35; Heb.9:12-15, 28; 10:11-12; Joh.1:14; 2Cor.5:21)

4. T hat Jesus died on the cross and three days later rose from the dead, His complete and finished work on the cross by His blood secured the salvation of all who come to Him by faith. (Joh.3:16, 14:6; 1Joh.5:20)

5. In the full deity of Jesus Christ, by God the Father who was exalted to the highest place of authority, as the only Judge. (Mat.28:18; Joh5:22; Rom.2:16; 14:9-12; 2Tim.4:8;)

6. In the free, decent and orderly expression of praise and worship to our God and King. (Psa.150; Joh.4:24; 1Cor.14:33;40; Eph.5:17-9)

7. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be proclaimed in all the world as a witness to all nations. And then the end shall come. Mat.24:14
